In der Tat! Wenn ich nicht trainiere, bin ich nicht fit. Aber wenn ich viel trainiere, bin ich fit wie ein Turnschuh.As a matter of fact! If I do not train, I’m not fit. But if I train a lot, I’m fit as a fiddle.

Ist ein Turnschuh fit? Es ist doch nur ein Gegenstand! Nun, laut den Deutschen ja. Und bei dieser Redewendung klingt es so, als sei ein Turnschuh sehr, sehr fit.Is a sneaker fit? It’s just an object! Well, according to the Germans, yes. And in this phrase, it sounds as if a sneaker very, very fit.

2016 bin ich einen Marathon gelaufen. Das war sehr schwer und ich musste vorher viel trainieren. Ich musste fit wie ein Turnschuh sein!In 2016, I ran a marathon. That was very difficult and I had to train a lot beforehand. I had to be fit as a fiddle!
